The Route

The Indian Ocean Challenge covers 3,700 nautical miles from Geraldton, Australia, to Grand Baie, Mauritius. Participants will battle unpredictable weather, powerful currents, and challenging conditions as they journey across the Indian Ocean. Teams of 2 to 6 will face this extreme test of endurance, with the crossing expected to take between 60 and 90 days. This route offers an unforgettable adventure on one of the most demanding ocean crossings in the world.

Safety of the crews is our top priority in the Indian Ocean Challenge. Each team undergoes extensive safety training before embarking on the journey. All boats in the event are equipped with GPS trackers, satellite phones, life rafts, and extensive kit lists.

24/7 monitoring ensures constant communication, with support teams providing weather updates and medical assistance if needed.

Despite these precautions, rowing across the Indian Ocean is a dangerous undertaking and should be treated as such. We maintain contact with maritime safety organizations and are prepared to coordinate rapid-response support when necessary.
